Santa Tecla, El Salvador – On November 10th 2015, Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) caught the interest of those who seek peace by unveiling a Peace Monument and establishing a Peace Park in Santa Tecla, where the scars of civil war are yet to be healed.

The unveiling was followed by a Peace Rally and was attended by Mayor Roberto José d´Aubuisson Munguía, former Deputy Head of the Legislative Assembly of the state of La Libertad, along with over 1,000 citizens. The world-renowned peace activist, Mr. Man Hee Lee, Chairman of HWPL, and Chairwoman of the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) were invited to attend and graced the occasion with their presence.

This historic event in El Salvador is the fruit of the efforts of Chairman ManHee Lee, who has been traveling around the world, tirelessly calling for peace since the proclamation of the Declaration of World Peace two years ago. Mayor Munguía, and the citizens of Santa Tecla, volunteered to build the Peace Monument and collaborated with HWPL to take a new leap toward bringing peace in their communities. HWPL’s Peace Monuments are being erected in many parts of the world, including the United States, the Philippines, and South Africa, and are the symbols of the realization of sustainable world peace.

Prior to his trip to El Salvador, Chairman ManHeeLee visited Los Angeles and attended ‘Advancing the Light of Peace: HWPL Peace Event’. He met with international heads of state, religious leaders, media, and youth to speak about the urgency of a united, global commitment for HWPL’s two initiatives: an International Convention on the Cessation of War and International Armed Conflicts and the Alliance of Religions through its WARP (World Alliance of Religions’ Peace) Office meetings. Educators and community leaders in LA presented the importance of including religious dialogue into school curriculum, expressing their commitment to work with HWPL to incorporate HWPL’s peace-building initiatives into their classroom.

The 12-year civil war that took the lives of over 80,000 people, ended with the peace agreement between the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN) and governmental forces in San Salvador in 1992. However, human rights violations and increasing violent incidents continue to plague the region, making it known as the number one city in the world for homicides.

Moving forward from the pain and suffering of the past, El Salvador, meaning ‘Savior’, is taking this unprecedented event as an opportunity to be at the forefront of leading the WARP Office events and supporting the implementation of the Convention on the Cessation of War. The City Council of Santa Tecla have also designated September 18th as HWPL Day to annually commemorate the momentous 1st Annual Commemoration of the WARP Summit in Seoul, South Korea – which produced the finalized first draft of the International Convention by the HWPL International Law Peace Committee.

Chairman ManHeeLee and the HWPL Peace Delegation will travel to London, UK to hold further discussions on the 2nd draft of the International Convention with renowned international law scholars and experts.
