Windhoek, July 21 –Heavenly Culture World Peace and Restoration of Light (HWPL) this month released a peace movement issue documenting the story of the non-governmental organisation for the past eight years.

The 64-page special issue entitled “Korean, Man Hee Lee, The True Story of Peace” details on the major achievements in the peace movement of Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL. It gives an in-depth introduction about the Mindanao Peace Agreement in the Philippines; the background of proclaiming the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) which is composed of 10 articles and 38 clauses for sustainable peace in the international community; and the “DPCW support letter” of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP).

The theme of the first English article in the special issue is the story of leading a civilian peace agreement in 2014 in Mindanao, Philippines, a region that suffered the bloody Catholic-Islamic conflict that lasted 40 years, killing 120,000 people. Chairman Lee, who led this agreement, became known to the international community.

HWPL continues its work also in Southern Africa, working with youth and women

assisted by its affiliate organisations the International Peace Youth Group

(IPYG) and International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG). In the past months, the

organization has been conducting peace education forums in schools as well as

training women leaders to be peace lecturers.

Mr. Man Hee Lee, Chairman of HWPL, who works internationally for cessation of war, was a Korean War veteran and suffered devastation from the war. He regrets the innocent deaths of young people who died in the war and is actively engaged in activities to realize the international law of peace and harmony between religions. Despite turning 90 years old this year, he continued the peace movement by issuing the “HWPL Statement on Human Rights Crisis in Myanmar” in April 2021. So far, he has visited 49 countries through 31 World Peace Tours to awaken a sense of peace in the global community.

At the same time, it features the messengers of peace in the global community, who work with HWPL to take the lead in achieving world peace. An official from Cheonji Ilbo stressed and highlighted that it is “an important source for world peace”. He also said, “If you see the news of Chairman Man Hee Lee’s peace movement, I hope you will join in making sustainable peace.”

Press of Korea!!

Form of Press of Korea:
About "Heavenly Culture World
Peace Restoration of Light
Peace Movement"

HWPL, Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light is a non-governmental, non-profit organization registered under the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs that transcends differences in culture, belief and region to engage leaders and youth in sustainable and comprehensive solutions for peace.

When the report on world peace, restoration of light through the culture of heaven Peace Movement was introduced on TV, broad casting companies flocked from all over Africa to be guests on the show. Just in South Africa 20 TV and radio stations asked to be on their show, and the delegation appeared. Within one day, they appeared on more than 10 broadcasting shows. As soon as the interview was finished, reporters from far away came to interview the delegation, and some even came to the rooms where they stayed for interviews.
Even so, there weren't enough time to do all interviews. Each time the news reporters and announcers interviewed Chairman of HWPL, Man Hee Lee, they were very moved that at the end of the show or program they would ask to hug him and wouldn't leave right away but stayed. They wished to express how honored they were to have a chance to interview him. South African's national broadcasting company SABC's CEO even came running out to meet him and asked for a hand shake.
One reporter was amazed by HWPL Chairman Man Hee Lee's world peace activities and thought was similar to Nelson Mandela and wanted to keep interviewing him. And another producer of a national broadcasting company said all the journalists of the world should be in the front line to let people know of person like Chairman of HWPL ManHeeLee, and claimed that it was their job and duty.

This behavior was the opposite compared to journalists and reporters of Korea who were blinded by the authorial power and money.

If the press stands upright, the nation will also stand upright. If the religious press stands upright, the religious world will stand upright. This will bring unification of religions—the restoration of light—as well as world peace.

Peace Movement
 for world peace

“We want to spread the notion of having a peaceful country.
Our vision is to achieve global peace and we believe that
as young people we can make positive changes in communities.
As young people we also owe it to ourselves to show those
who fought for our liberation that their efforts are not in vain.”

WITH the aim of forging peace dialogues between communities, a non-governmental organisation, Heavenly Culture World Peace and Restoration of Light (HWPL), is working with the KwaZulu-Natal Christian Council to facilitate peace between KZN churches and communities.

The organisation was established in South Korea in 2009 and has four branches in South Africa, including Pietermaritzburg, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban.

HWPL Regional Co-ordinator, Nomalanga Sibiya said following the recent xenophobic attacks the organisation is working with interfaith leaders to facilitate peace dialogues.

“We want to bring different religious denominations together so they can understand that although we are diverse, we serve one God. We encourage them to compare scriptures so that together they can come up with a solution to find peace and harmony in their country.”

Sibiya further said the organisation will also work with non-profit organisations with similar drives in order to curb violence and substance and alcohol abuse.

“We want to spread the notion of having a peaceful country. Our vision is to achieve global peace and we believe that as young people we can make positive changes in communities. As young people we also owe it to ourselves to show those who fought for our liberation that their efforts are not in vain.”
