Windhoek, July 21 –Heavenly Culture World Peace and Restoration of Light (HWPL) this month released a peace movement issue documenting the story of the non-governmental organisation for the past eight years.

The 64-page special issue entitled “Korean, Man Hee Lee, The True Story of Peace” details on the major achievements in the peace movement of Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL. It gives an in-depth introduction about the Mindanao Peace Agreement in the Philippines; the background of proclaiming the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) which is composed of 10 articles and 38 clauses for sustainable peace in the international community; and the “DPCW support letter” of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP).

The theme of the first English article in the special issue is the story of leading a civilian peace agreement in 2014 in Mindanao, Philippines, a region that suffered the bloody Catholic-Islamic conflict that lasted 40 years, killing 120,000 people. Chairman Lee, who led this agreement, became known to the international community.

HWPL continues its work also in Southern Africa, working with youth and women

assisted by its affiliate organisations the International Peace Youth Group

(IPYG) and International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG). In the past months, the

organization has been conducting peace education forums in schools as well as

training women leaders to be peace lecturers.

Mr. Man Hee Lee, Chairman of HWPL, who works internationally for cessation of war, was a Korean War veteran and suffered devastation from the war. He regrets the innocent deaths of young people who died in the war and is actively engaged in activities to realize the international law of peace and harmony between religions. Despite turning 90 years old this year, he continued the peace movement by issuing the “HWPL Statement on Human Rights Crisis in Myanmar” in April 2021. So far, he has visited 49 countries through 31 World Peace Tours to awaken a sense of peace in the global community.

At the same time, it features the messengers of peace in the global community, who work with HWPL to take the lead in achieving world peace. An official from Cheonji Ilbo stressed and highlighted that it is “an important source for world peace”. He also said, “If you see the news of Chairman Man Hee Lee’s peace movement, I hope you will join in making sustainable peace.”

According to HWPL Chairman, Man Hee Lee "The Sound of Peace Spreading in Myanmar" was hosted by HWPL with 500 participants and religious leaders form of Protestantism, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism for an interfaith dialogue.

"I am not going to take certain religion's side or support it. What I am saying is, all religions have to reflect on themselves, so that they are acknowledged by the heaven. When all religions become one, them there will be no more war because of the religions."

The 'Ceremony of HWPL Peace Education and IPYG Peace Project' was held with the presence of Professor Nay Win Oo, the Deputy Director General of Department of Higher Education and 10 chancellors of colleges. In the event, teaching materials and action plans for peace projects by youth were introduced and presented to HWPL to advocate peacebuilding for future generations.

"There have been many figures who worked for peace. However, the world has not changed yet. In that sense, the current international law for the establishment of global peace should be readdressed." said Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL.

He added that "Peace can't be achieved by the authority or power of some people. What the better is the cessation of war and peace, keeping our lives.' There are 3.6 billion women in the world. To Protect all women's offspring and to protect the youth themselves, now we have to stop the war.

The peaceful world can't be built by the effort of just one country. We all have to become one. Also, teachers should teach the children with the peace education from the primary school and all families."

Chairman Mr. Man Hee Lee then received a present, DPCW sculpture made of jade and present the peace education material to the Dr. Thiha Nyarna, the Principal of Sitagu Buddhist academy.

On the next day, an international law seminar was held based on the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War(DPCW), drafted by HWPL to propose enactment of an international law for peace through international cooperation respect on international law, religious / ethnic freedom and spreading a culture of peace.

The founding president of Happy, Healthy and Helping Society, U Shein said, "It has similarity with the constitution of Myanmar with 7 articles. This declaration is essential for Myanmar and needed to be supported."

The 130 lawyer participants that attended the seminar signed for "The Agreement of Support for the Implementation of the International Law."

Nepal and HWPL has another event that made special bond between them. On April 11th, “World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Office was held in Kathmandu, Nepal and about 150 participants from various religious backgrounds including Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism promised to work with HWPL.

The two representatives spurred to achieve World Peace by dedicating every minute of their time for promoting peace activities such as the 2nd Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of World Peace, Unveiling ceremony of Mindanao Peace Agreement Monument, Peace Dialogue with political leaders, and World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (“WARP”) Office meeting with Filipino religious leaders.

Ahead of the annual United Nations General Assembly in New York that features a gathering of world leaders, renowned peace activist, Mr. Man Hee Lee has been speaking on strategies to achieve global peace and understanding among diverse religious and political persuasions.

Chairman Man Hee Lee was in New York to preview the World Peace Summit scheduled to take place in Seoul, South Korea under the auspices of Heavenly Culture World Peace Restoration of Light (HWPL). In an exclusive interview with CMPI media, HWPL chairman Man Hee Lee reiterated his call for world leaders to enact a treaty that would outlaw wars in the world. In his view, peace building should be the primary goal of the United Nations.

Asked how he intended to push for such an international law banning wars without the support of the United States, chairman of HWPL Man Hee Lee expressed frustration at his inability to meet with President Obama after repeated attempts. He was however optimistic that United States and other major powers in the west would see the wisdom in eradicating wars and embracing peaceful coexistence of humanity.

Youths, he said, remained the active population often deployed by leaders to engage in wars and yet no youth is ever compensated for their involvement.

The 84-year old peace activist and veteran of the Korean War flanked by leaders of different religious faiths including Sikh, Hindu, Islam, and Christianity noted that inter-religious dialogue was necessary to begin to heal the wounds of mistrust and bigotry.

A peace advocate and Chairman of Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (“HWPL”), Mr. Man Hee Lee, who solved a 40-year conflict of Mindanao between government forces and the Moro-Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), returned to the region for the 2nd Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of World Peace. For the first time in history, Chairman Lee proclaimed the Declaration of World Peace on May 25th 2013 and this year marks its 2nd year anniversary. He was accompanied by Chairwoman of International Women’s Peace Group (“IWPG”) and HWPL’s peace delegation.

Starting on May 22nd, in the midst of a tight schedule, Chairman Lee and the peace delegationhave led the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (“WARP”) Office Meetings, Peace Dialogue with political leaders, judicial officers, and heads of military forces in major cities such as Manila, Maguindanao, Cagayan de Oro, and Davao. On May 25th 2015, at the 2nd Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of World Peace, the unveiling ceremony of Mindanao Peace Agreement Monument was held.

After arriving in the Manila airport on May 22nd, Chairman Man Hee Lee held a meeting with the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), the national organization of lawyers, as the first part of his 18th World Peace Tour. Juanito Victor C.Remulla Jr., the Governor of Cavite, Esmael Toto Mangudadatu, the Governor of the Province of Maguindanao and Muslim representative, and Filipino leaders from all walks of life came to meet Chairman Lee.Vincent M. Chairman Lee gave a keynote speech on the topic of ‘Heavenly Culture, the essential ingredient in bringing world peace’ during the mass led by Archbishop Antonio Ledesma of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro. At the conference with politicians and religious leaders in Cagayan de Oro, Chairman Lee also delivered a speech on the topic of ‘the role of religious leaders in conflicted areas’, emphasizing the significance of the religious leaders’ parts in conflicts and disputes while Chairwoman Kim spoke about the role of youths and women in peace building. In her speech, she said, “There is no more powerful driving force than the spirit of youths and the hearts of mothers in establishing peace”, drawing an enthusiastic applause from the participants. Furthermore, the WARP Office Meeting was held under the topic of “Birth, Aging, Sickness, and Death in the context of religious scriptures” Currently, HWPL’s WARP Offices are dramatically arising in 62 cities in 40 countries around the world including but not limited to Philippines, United States, United Kingdom, and India, reminding religious leaders of their significant roles in the establishment of peace.

Back in January 2014, the signing of the alliance of religions agreement led by Peace advocate Man Hee Lee and conducted between the Catholic and Muslim leaders has brought a cease-fire of a 40-year conflict in Mindanao. Governor Esmael Toto Mangudadatu sent a special invitation to Chairman Lee to celebrate the day of the signing of peace treaty as well as the 2nd Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of World Peace. Officially proclaiming January 24th as HWPL dayof Maguindanaoas a day of peace, the commemorative event particularly included the unveiling of the Mindanao Peace Agreement Monument. The International Peace Youth Walk Festival was followed after the ceremony and over 3,000 youths in Maguidanao marched together.

Generose Coyme, a youth participant of the rally shared how she was deeply moved, “Mindanao bears too much pains and sorrows. It is one of the most conflicted regions in the world. From seeing HWPL’s active involvement in Mindanao with their peace initiatives every year, I can feel that this purely civil organization looks after the whole world and loves the neighboring countries as their own.”The memorial demonstrated the unity and commitment of the people of Mindanao embracing people from different backgrounds and defining the right framework for the community to achieve sustainable peace.

Since 2012, Peace advocate Man Hee Lee has been traveling world meeting with notable leaders in both secular and religious circles. On this, his 9th(^.^:; 2015, until now: 18th world peace tour) and most recent trip, he held talks with the vice-president of Peru, Ms. Marisol Espinoza in Lima, Peru.


Following that, the former presidents of Guatemala – Mr. Alvaro Colom Caballeros, and Colombia – Belisario Betancur, in Bogota, Colombia. In Chile he met with the former president Mr. Ricardo Lagos in Santiago, Chile. His Excellency, Mr. Jose Mujcia, the President of Uruguay met with Mr. Lee in Montevideo, Uruguay.


During his talks with the leaders, the peace advocate urged each of them to help bring an end to wars and conflicts still besetting their countries and neighbors. The inspired vision of peace that he painted in his message was not lost of any of the leaders of the South American continent.


Throughout his world peace tours, press and media kept a close watch on the intrepid 84-year-old peace advocate. Telenoticais 23, a Live News broadcasting station located in Guatemala City, covered the flower-laying ceremony, ensuring that the story of the Korean peace advocate’s mission of peace was announced all over the country. As part of his world peace tours, Peacemaker Man Hee Lee signed a peace agreement with the Guatemalan government in 2013, as well as with the leader of the Maya community. This year, the same agreement was entered into by a leading representative of the Inca community. Mr. Lee’s vision of peace is for the agreement to be signed by representatives of all cultures, religions, ethnic groups, and governments in the world, thus providing common grounds on which resolutions for conflicts, and ultimately the cessation of wars can be achieved. With each new meeting, entire communities are showing their support for the movement by signing this agreement – a sign that Mr. Lee’s message is one that truly resonates with the hearts of the people.

Who is he?

He was given a name meaning “light”. Why was he given such a name? Before his birth, in a dream his grandfather
saw the ray of strong light separating the dark sky and descending upon the mother of his grandson.
Having had this extraordinary dream, his grandfather decided to name his grandson “light” before birth.

Man Hee Lee, he is a descendant of the Korean royal family, who was sent from heaven as the light of love.

Born to a poor peasant family on September 15, 1931, he was given a name meaning “light”. Why was he given such a name? Before his birth, in a dream his grandfather saw the ray of strong light separating the dark sky and descending upon the mother of his grandson. Having had this extraordinary dream, his grandfather decided to name his grandson “light” before birth.

Chairman of HWPL, Man Hee Lee he has come as a precious bowl (the bowl of heaven) that stores the wisdom and the commands from heaven, and the seed of the culture of heaven. That which can make this known to people is his wisdom and the word of heaven he has mastered. In addition, people have known and realized the value of this person through various cultural festivals that served as the light. The divine being of heaven is capable of displaying and accomplishing what no one else on this earth can accomplish within a brief instant.

Religious leader Man Hee Lee solved the religious conflict, the island of Mindanao in the Philippines suffered about 40 years of warfare between the Muslims and the Catholics. In January of 2014, peace advocate also the Chairman of HWPL, solved this problem.

When it comes to war, it is not the presidents, ministers, or legislators who go to fight. It is the young men who go to fight and die. How will this regrettable death be compensated for? We requested cooperation for our work of petitioning for the ‘ending war and for world peace and the restoration of light,’ and to have it turned into an international law, this is something they would do if they truly loved peace, their country and their people. They agreed to and signed the petition.

Chairman of HWPL Man Hee Lee who fulfills world peace and restoration of light through the culture of heaven, was a Korean War veteran, who fought in the frontlines. Having been deeply deplored over the tragedy of the fratricidal war and the death of the citizens of his own, Chairman Lee refuses to take any money that the Korean government provides monthly for former war veterans. He is a peace activist who loves his own nation and citizens, and works vigorously in effort to bring peaceful unification to the Korean peninsula.

While watching the tragedy of the fratricidal war, Chairman Lee made up his mind before his dying comrades that he would accomplish world peace and restore the lost light for his own country and citizens. He has never stopped praying before God, asking for His help. Nothing has stopped him from praying because Chairman Lee believed that God would be capable of bringing world peace, and that it would be feasible if God would help, and that heaven would be capable of providing wisdom and the tools to accomplish world peace.

Why, why and why did young men around the world have to die? 

For whom did they have to die? The sacrifice of their lives is greater than the universe. The wish of the deceased souls was surely the world peace and the restoration of light. Their wish must have been to live in a world without war and without death. Everyone living in this globe is one family that surpasses national borders, races or religions. Why do we have to fight against one another? Why do people have to kill others’ lives that are granted by the light, rain and the air from heaven?

If religions of the world are united, the world will also be unified. In order for the religions to be united, all religions must be overcome by the truth. The truth of the culture of heaven belongs to heaven, and it must be given from heaven.

On 5.25 HWPL Peace Day is becoming a crucial day bringing the sensational wave of peace worldwide, Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL sent a letter from Philippines on 24th of May to the members of IPYG and IWPG. In the letter, he delivered his message that “The youth’s work will be the force that will put an end to all wars on this earth and create peace that will be left as a legacy for the future generations. Let us not forget this day and hold commemorative ceremonies. Let us announce this to the world so that everyone may become a peace messenger and work with us in creating the light of glory.”

The mayor and members of the city council of the city of Alexandria, Virginia  proclaimed September 18th as the ‘World Alliance of Religions Day’ to commemorate the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Summit, an unprecedented international peace festival held by HWPL on September 18th in Seoul, South Korea.

The mayor and members of the city council of the city of Alexandria, Virginia has acknowledged HWPL’s dedication in bringing people of different religions together for the establishment of peace and has recently proclaimed September 18th as the ‘World Alliance of Religions Day’ to commemorate the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Summit, an unprecedented international peace festival held by HWPL on September 18th in Seoul, Republic of Korea.

In addition to the accomplishments above, the National Assembly of Ecuador has recently conferred an award of national recognition to acknowledge and cooperate with the works of HWPL for the commemoration of May 25th. In the preamble to the award, the government of Ecuador recognizes that HWPL has dedicated, since its foundation, the efforts and energy aimed at actively pursuing missions widely supported by many countries while solving current issues of the world for the purpose of restoring human dignity. While the government also recognizes the works of IWPG and IPYG, the award of national recognition highlighted hard work of Chairman Lee of HWPL in spreading the global peace movement. The National Assembly of Ecuador has expressed its sincere gratitude for Chairman of HWPL, Man Hee Lee’s spirit of volunteerism and his dedication toward preserving and fostering culture of peace.

While May 25th(5.25 Peace Day) is becoming a crucial day bringing the sensational wave of peace worldwide, Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL sent a letter from Philippines on 24th of May to the members of International Peace Youth Group (“IPYG”) and IWPG. In the letter, he delivered his message that “The youth’s work will be the force that will put an end to all wars on this earth and create peace that will be left as a legacy for the future generations. Let us not forget this day and hold commemorative ceremonies. Let us announce this to the world so that everyone may become a peace messenger and work with us in creating the light of glory.”

Peace Advocate Man Hee Lee(Chairman of HWPL) Declares the Urgency to join Peace Movement and amend International Law!

Chairman of HWPL Man Hee Lee introduced the work of HWPL in his speech as follows, “We are undertaking the global initiatives to bring sustainable peace for all and to fulfill what is stated in the Declaration of World Peace.” 


Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL continued to urge the participants to join the peace movement by saying “Every global citizen, regardless of their social status, should work as messengers of peace, putting efforts to bring forth our common goal.” 

Chairman of HWPL Man Hee Lee, he highlighted the urgency of improving the current situations of many countries by continuing his statement, “No country should experience wars rooted in religious misunderstandings” Supreme Court Justice Sheikh Khalifa B. Nando of MILF who signed on the agreement of the enactment of an international law for peace has agreed that it is necessary to collaborate efforts of people to amend such legislation.
