On July 24th at 6pm, the Georgian youth united together at the University of Georgia, Tbilisi Georgia to host a Peace Debate event under the theme of ‘The pieces of peace come together to form a masterpiece’. International Peace Youth Group (IPYG), a youth organization of South Korea and the youths who had formed alliances with it like the Young Progressive Leaders of Georgia, League of Young Diplomats, Georgian Youth Development Association and Droni prepared for and partook in this event together this day.

The debate itself took the form of Karl Popper, a style that has become more prevalent in Georgia recently. Karl Popper style debate is where various teams carry out debates in the form of a tournament and eventually select a winning team. As for this occasion, the content of the two sessions of the day’s debate were 1) What is the rightful way of recovering a lost territory? Is it war or diplomacy? 2) If there is no one to go out and fight a war, there will be no war. In what ways can the youth express that we, the youth will not partake in wars and help the rest of the youths realize that we ourselves can bring an end to wars? respectively.

Our ultimate goal is to achieve peace: cessation of wars and prevention of the death of innocent lives.”

After the debating sessions, the youths signed peace agreements for the enactment of international laws which marked the end to the day’s event. On this day, youth attendees signed Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light’s peace agreements for the enactment of international laws which is the practical device that will help achieve cessation of wars ultimately.

As the winner of this event, Lasha mamulashvili commented that “ I do agree with HWPL and Mr. Lee’s peace initiatives. Youth participation in this issues is rather important, because new generation is a future of the country and increase of their participation which is very important in dealing the conflicts.” As an attendee of the event Akaki Jamburia said. “The peace has no alternative in Georgia, in the region and in the whole world. Wars and conflicts had devastating results on Georgian society and especially on Georgian youth who suffered a lot during last decades. New generations should acknowledge the importance of peace for progressive development.”

Declaration of World Peace

May 25th 2013, declaration of World Peace,
Peace advocate, Man Hee Lee Chairman of HWPL is declaring
Peace Walk "Let the Walk for World Peace and Restoration begin!"
Officially proclaimed at 5.25 Peace Walk at the Peace Gate, the Declaration of World Peace is HWPL’s vision for sustainable peace.

"The Heavens and the Earth formed by the hands of the Creator have been given to humanity as an inheritance.
In all the universe, life in its vast splendour exists only on our world.

The life that grows on the earth is sustained from above - by light, by the rain, and by the air they provide unconditionally to all living beings.
We have received the precious gift of life from above, let us give glory to heaven, and live in peace on earth. This is the truest teaching of heaven.

With this eternal gift - the grace and life we have received - are we entitled to fight, kill and destroy one another?
We cannot claim to desire peace and continue to provoke one another, causing conflict for the sake of valuing our own national interests above those of others.
This will only take the lives of the youth, wasting them in the futility of war.
This is not a legacy we can leave to future generations.

Of what use is a young life, born in our day and age, if it is thrown away in this manner - thrown away without having had a chance to bloom?
What price can compensate for the loss of a life?
Do these young souls have another chance at life?

As emissaries of World Peace;
as people who are working towards the restoration of humanity through a new and heavenly culture, we declare the following:

We call on the heads of state of every country to sign an international agreement - a commitment to bringing all wars to an end.
We ask them to do this from a spirit of deep-seated love for the people of their country.

We call on all youth to unite in an effort to stop wars and pursue the restoration of peace by agreeing not to fight one another. For World Peace to become a reality, this is the duty of all youth, everywhere.

The only way to stop the fighting and pointless, tragic deaths, is to stop fighting.
Nobody can ask for anything greater than this, and know that your efforts - the efforts of the young people of the world today in pursuit of peace - will remain as a never fading light of life for all future generations.

Furthermore, we call on every person, every man, woman, and child in the world, to pick up the mantle of peace.
In whatever way you can, we ask that you work to further the cause of world peace and restoration, making it a reality in your direct environments.

Lastly, we call on the media to report responsibly and promote a message of peace to the world.

World peace and restoration has begun at the same time this declaration is proclaimed.

 Thank you.

Peace advocate,
Man Hee Lee
Chairman of HWPL

2nd Annual commemoration of the Declaration of World Peace
International Peace Youth Group Walk Festival
IPYG Peace walk in Mindanao, Philippines

Back in January 2014, the signing of the alliance of religions agreement led by Chairman Lee and conducted between the Catholic and Muslim leaders has brought a cease-fire of a 40-year conflict in Mindanao. Governor Esmael Toto Mangudadatu sent a special invitation to Chairman Lee to celebrate the day of the signing of peace treaty as well as the 2nd Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of World Peace.

Officially proclaiming January 24th as HWPL day of Maguindanao as a day of peace, the commemorative event particularly included the unveiling of the Mindanao Peace Agreement Monument. The International Peace Youth Walk Festival was followed after the ceremony and over 3,000 youths in Maguidanao marched together.

Generose Coyme, a youth participant of the rally shared how she was deeply moved, “Mindanao bears too much pains and sorrows. It is one of the most conflicted regions in the world. From seeing HWPL’s active involvement in Mindanao with their peace initiatives every year, I can feel that this purely civil organization looks after the whole world and loves the neighboring countries as their own.”The memorial demonstrated the unity and commitment of the people of Mindanao embracing people from different backgrounds and defining the right framework for the community to achieve sustainable peace.

Chairman Man Hee Lee introduced the work of HWPL in his speech as follows, “We are undertaking the global initiatives to bring sustainable peace for all and to fulfill what is stated in the Declaration of World Peace.” He continued to urge the participants to join the peace movement by saying “Every global citizen, regardless of their social status, should work as messengers of peace, putting efforts to bring forth our common goal.”

He highlighted the urgency of improving the current situations of many countries by continuing his statement, “No country should experience wars rooted in religious misunderstandings”Supreme Court Justice Sheikh Khalifa B. Nando of MILF who signed on the agreement of the enactment of an international law for peace has agreed that it is necessary to collaborate efforts of people to amend such legislation.

In the meantime, the mayor and members of the city council of the city of Alexandria, Virginia has acknowledged HWPL’s dedication in bringing people of different religions together for the establishment of peace and has recently proclaimed September 18th as the ‘World Alliance of Religions Day’ to commemorate the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Summit, an unprecedented international peace festival held by HWPL on September 18th in Seoul, Republic of Korea.

In addition to the accomplishments above, the National Assembly of Ecuador has recently conferred an award of national recognition to acknowledge and cooperate with the works of HWPL for the commemoration of May 25th. In the preamble to the award, the government of Ecuador recognizes that HWPL has dedicated, since its foundation, the efforts and energy aimed at actively pursuing missions widely supported by many countries while solving current issues of the world for the purpose of restoring human dignity.

While the government also recognizes the works of IWPG and IPYG, the award of national recognition highlighted hard work of Chairman Lee of HWPL in spreading the global peace movement. The National Assembly of Ecuador has expressed its sincere gratitude for Mr. Lee’s spirit of volunteerism and his dedication toward preserving and fostering culture of peace.
