On the hiking trail, I met a bird singing in soprano tones.

It wasn't such a beautiful voice. 

The normal sound of birds is good to hear, but this bird in this clip seemed to practice singing, judging from howling.

Maybe the song contest of birds will be held.

I share a video of a bird singing practice taken yesterday in hopes of good results.

Way to go!

So far, it seems to be too one-sided to express birds singing in soprano tones, from here, we will reflect the bird's reaction from a different angle.

What song would the bird sing if it practiced singing?

I can't understand the bird's language, so I think I can only infer it.

The song that this bird is shouting high seems to be calling for "peace" that is indispensable in our lives.

Peace INGO from South Korea, Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), released a Statement on a recent Friday and called the international community to raise their voices over the military regime to stop violence and resolve the problems by means of dialogue. 

HPWL highlights that the recent efforts of the Myanmar military to suppress nonviolent protests have led to dozens of deaths and hundreds of injuries.  It regrets that the number of deaths and injuries are still increasing. 

“Human life must not be disregarded in any circumstances.  No conflict of political conflict can justify violence against civilians and no interest of any group can prevail over human life”, said the Statement. 

As an international peace advocate organization, HWPL opposed all types of violence around the world and it calls to Myanmar military regime, to ‘respect people’s human rights and freedom of expression, and call to all parties to engage in dialogue to seek a peaceful resolution.

HWPL, led by its Chairman, Man Hee Lee, has wider networks and members in Asia, Africa, and North and South America working for world peace in various methods.  Therefore, it asks, the global family of peace to issue Statements urging (Myanmar military) authorities and civilians in Myanmar to pursue dialogue and seek a peaceful solution in order to restore peace in the country.

Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) is a global organization found in South Korea by Chairman Man Hee Lee, which is committed to spreading world peace through their Legislate Peace Campaign. ☮ The Role of Peace Education in Building a Peaceful World ☮

• On 24 January, over 2,400 pre-registered attendees from 70 countries joined the online inter-continental peace conference to discuss the role of peace education.
• Attendees joined from the Philippines, U.S.A, Germany, South Africa, China, South Korea, and others.
• The conference was organized by a Korea-based international peace NGO, “Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light” (HWPL) under the UN DGC and the UN ECOSOC in celebration of the 7th Anniversary of the January 24 HWPL Peace Day.
• The January 24 HWPL Peace Day declared by the Province of Maguindanao in the Philippines has been commemorated annually since the Mindanao Peace Agreement was made by the local government and civil society leaders on 24 January 2014.

HWPL Chairman Man Hee Lee delivered his commemorative message, followed by the congratulatory messages from social, educational, religious, and political figures including The President of the Court of Appeal of Cairo, The Former President of the UN Human Rights Council, The Former Adviser of the Ministry of Education of Guatemala, and Archbishop Emeritus of Davao Archdiocese of the Philippines.

“Today, Mindanao is no longer a place of conflict; rather, it has become a model of peace to which the world looks. Once, the people of this region used to point guns at each other—now they share food while sitting at the same table, despite their differences in religion and ideologies. Students who were once being trained to kill are now learning the precious value of life and peace through HWPL Peace Education,” he said.

The Peace Day was named after HWPL since the agreement was suggested by Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL, known as a Korean war veteran, to overcome the 50 years of conflict that resulted in approximately 120,000 victims in the region.

With the theme, “The Role of Peace Education in Building a Peaceful World”, the celebration of this year aimed to raise awareness of peace education around the world and establish a global platform for peace educators to implement peace education in the educational system of each country.

Ms. Firoza Muradi, an educator from Afghanistan, said, “The Mindanao Peace Agreement in 2014 became a great model for countries like Afghanistan who experience wars and conflicts. I hope that the miracle of peace in Mindanao will happen in Afghanistan, and the beginning is from peace education. Through HWPL Peace Education, students seek answers to achieve peace in various ways, including harmony with nature, the value of cooperation, and how to protect their rights. I believe all of my students who are receiving peace education will grow up to be peace messenger.”

The representative case is a peace agreement between Catholic and Islam in Philippine Mindanao which was accomplished by arbitration of Lee Man Hee on 2014 Jan. 24.

The news for peace agreement which was accomplished by Lee Man Hee were delivered to government and rebel forces. On the next day, it became official.

At that time, the former president of Philippine met chairman Lee and gave gratitude saying “You have achieved the things even President couldn’t.”

Anchor from PTV in Philippine who was broadcasting in live with chairman Man Hee Lee said the people of the Philippines need to appreciate.

Journalist Elizabeth Kachin from PTV appraised that “sincerity of chairman Lee toward peace has moved people in Mindanao who became tired of 40 years of conflicts.  And it became possible because it was HWPL and chairman Lee Man Hee.”  

For true peace in the world, we must throw away the selfishness of ourselves and even within our own groups and burn with a fire of passion for peace. Let’s be the heroes of peace~!!

Peace advocate ManHee Lee gathered the community leaders of Mindanao Island, such as mayors, college professors, youth and many more, in the main conference room of the hotel.

We asked the two religious representatives, a representative of the Catholic Church (Capalla) and a representative of the Muslims (Governor) and their leading figures, to join us.

Many people gathered and the two religious representatives sat on the platform. The host of this meeting first asked the two religious representatives to voice their opinion.

After that, she called name of Mr. ManHeeLee of HWPL as the third speaker and Mr. ManHee Lee went onto the stage.

Firstly, Peace advocate, ManHeeLee asked the audience if they want to leave conflict as a legacy to the future generations or to leave peace as a legacy to the future generations.

Their answer was “peace.” And then Peace maker ManHeeLee asked the same question to the two religious representatives.

Peace advocate ManHeeLee also asked if causing conflict to bring death upon people was an act that God, the master of your religion, wants. Are conflict and killing good deeds or evil deeds?

Peace advocate  ManHee Lee told them that these make known whether or not their religion is a group of evil.

Chairman of HWPL, ManHee Lee advised them to reject the wrong and choose the right. So they pledged before God and all the people of the world to put an end to all the conflicts and to never cause them again, and so they also signed the peace agreement. All the people in the audience who witnessed this were filled with great joy.

They embraced each other in joy and danced. The 40-year conflict in Mindanao was restored through peace. The Moro Islamic Liberation Front(MILF) and the government forces also signed for peace in front of their president.

On January 25th, the next day, many universities gathered at Mindanao state university and held a peace festival.

And peace advocate, ManHee Lee said "All these show that God was with us according to His promise."

The population of the Philippines is about 120 million, and the cardinal of this country is the same age as peace advocate Man Hee Lee is. 

So every time peace advocate Man Hee Lee visits, he has a meal together and chat at the Catholic theological seminary, and this cardinal has also signed the peace agreement.

It was September, 2013, Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL and peace delegation were staying at a hotel in Manila, the capital of the Philippines. 

One day, a Catholic archbishop of the Mindanao Island came to visit Man Hee Lee at the hotel and asked him to cease the religious conflict on the Mindanao Island.

MAGUINDANAO, Philippines – Man Hee Lee, a world-renowned South Korean peace advocate and religious leader, urged Filipinos on Monday, May 25, to unite and work for peace to resolve the decades-old conflict in Mindanao.

Peace advocate Man Hee Lee, who is chair of the group Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light, an international peace organization that has made strides by reminding leaders and lawmakers of their responsibility to protect citizens, attended the day-long peace summit organized by the provincial governor of Maguindanao in support for the passage Bangsamoro Basic Law or House Bill No. 4994.

“Let’s all unite for peace for the people of our next generation,” Lee told the crowd attending the summit at the town’s gymnasium.

He added: “I will not forget this day. This is the day where we can show to the world that the light of peace will begin in the Island of Mindanao."

Man Hee Lee said he also experienced war in their country where he witnessed thousands of people die.

Peace Advocate Man Hee Lee’s visit is part of the commemoration of first anniversary of Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light Peace Day for Maguindanao.

After the event inside the gymnasium, peace advocates, local leaders along with Man Hee Lee, participated in a peace walk from the town’s gym to the town proper of Buluan where they unveiled peace monument.

Mangudadatu said they are optimistic the Senate can meet and pass the bill before June 11. Representatives from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front also attended the summit.

Mindanao, Philippines : A peace advocate, Chairman of Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (“HWPL”), Man Hee Lee, who solved a 40-year conflict of Mindanao between government forces and the Moro-Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), returned to the region for the 2nd Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of World Peace. 

For the first time in history, Chairman Lee proclaimed the Declaration of World Peace on May 25th 2013 and this year marks its 2nd year anniversary.

On May 25th 2015, at the 2nd Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of World Peace, the unveiling ceremony of Mindanao Peace Agreement Monument was held.

After arriving in the Manila airport on May 22nd, Chairman Lee held a meeting with the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), the national organization of lawyers, as the first part of his 18th World Peace Tour. Juanito Victor C.Remulla Jr., the Governor of Cavite, Esmael Toto Mangudadatu, the Governor of the Province of Mindanao and Muslim representative, and Filipino leaders from all walks of life came to meet Chairman Lee.Vincent M. Joyas,IBP National President, has expressed his support in assisting the enactment of an international law for peace and will further collaborate with Korean professors in the expertise of international law.

Chairman Lee gave a keynote speech on the topic of ‘Heavenly Culture, the essential ingredient in bringing world peace’ during the mass led by Archbishop Antonio Ledesma of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro. He highlighted the urgency of improving the current situations of many countries by continuing his statement, “No country should experience wars rooted in religious misunderstandings”Supreme Court Justice Sheikh Khalifa B. Nando of MILF who signed on the agreement of the enactment of an international law for peace has agreed that it is necessary to collaborate efforts of people to amend such legislation.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — The decommissioning of fighters of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) that started on Tuesday (June 16) was more than a symbolic event but the first step in achieving real peace and lasting peace in Mindanao.

Speakers from both the government and rebel sides stressed this as they took turns at the stage set up for the historic event in Barangay Simuay, Sultan Kudarat in Maguindanao.

"For some people, it's about statistics — 145 fighters and 75 firearms," Al Haj Murad Ebrahim, MILF chairman, told an audience that included President Benigno Aquino III and Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas II.

"But this is not about statistics. This is something deeply personal to us.

"As I look at the faces of each of our 145 brothers here in this morning, I see 145 stories of struggle, of pain, of hopelessness, and even of death.

"Yet I also see 145 stories of hope and faith that indeed peace is near and that all the sacrifices have been worth it.

"I see not only their stories but my story as well and the stories of all the mujahideen that have given their lives, their intelligence, their talents to the struggle to protect the Bangsamoro people. What we have today are not the stories of only 145 fighters. What we have today are the stories of the whole Bangsamoro: oppression, tyranny, and yes, liberation."

Beyond words

It had not been an easy peace process, he said. In fact, he added, even within the MILF, officials up to now continued to discuss the peace process.

Turkish Ambassador Haydar Berk, chairperson of the Independent Decommissioning Body (IDB), praised both sides for their efforts, saying: "We are proud to be part of this historic, courageous peace process. I have doubt that not only the present generation but future generations would admire your visionary statesmanship."

Berk added that the ceremony was more than just symbolic. It would be the model for the decommissioning events to follow.

Mohagher Iqbal, chief MILF negotiator, said, the ceremony put into deeds, not just words, what Muslims in Mindanao want.

"If you want peace, prepare for peace," Iqbal said in a speech he delivered before Ebrahim spoke. "This is the start of our preparation."

Miriam Coronel-Ferrer called the process a "dry run" for the normalization of MILF fighters.

Secretary Teresita Deles, presidential adviser on the peace process, said the process would start with, among other things, government case workers taking stock of what the fighters, along with their communities, would need to get back to a normal, peaceful life, after decades conflict with government troops.

No surrender, no weakness

Both Ebrahim and Iqbal stressed that decommissioning was neither an act of surrender nor a sign of weakness.

"It is a sign of strength, for our strength lies not in firearms but in the love and affection of the Bangsamoro people," Ebrahim said. "Without the support of the Bangsamoro people, we may have all the arms in the world, and yet there will be no victory."

He and Iqbal also praised and thanked President Aquino for being committed to the pursuit of peace in Mindanao.

In turn, he said the MILF was determined to comply with the terms set in the the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro (FAB) and the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB).

After peace talks that had been brokered by Malaysia since 1997, the government and MILF panels signed the FAB on October 15, 2012, and the CAB on March 27, 2014.

Sign of trust

Ebrahim noted how Aquino was no stranger to an oppressive regime. He was alluding to the martial law days, during which the president's father, former Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr., was jailed as political prisoner by then President Ferdinand Marcos.

"We cannot thank President Aquino enough for his unwavering commitment in our partnership to build a truly democratic, peaceful, and safe society in the Bangsamoro," Ebrahim said.

In turn, President Aquino acknowledged the abuses that Moros suffered in the hands of some Christians in Mindanao, particularly in the issue of land ownership, which was part of the cause of a conflict that lasted for decades.

Achieving mutual trust, Aquino said, became very difficult because "the wounds were deep," as he put it in Filipino.

But now, with an agreement already in place, he praised the MILF for putting its trust in the government.

Laying down their arms, he pointed, was a sign that they were willing to entrust their safety and security to the government, even though there remained threats from other armed groups in Mindanao.

The gesture was all the more remarkable, he said, because the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law was still under debate in Congress. That measure would create a Bangsamoro political entity to replace the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

Aquino hit back at critics of the proposed BBL, who clamored for its scrapping in response to a battle between police commandos of the Special Action Force and the MILF fighters in Mamasapano, Maguindanao, last January 25.

Speaking in Filipino, he said: "Instead of asking: 'How could I improve the BBL so it could solve the complaints of our countrymen,' it seems they're thinking: 'How can I stop or block this?'"

Chance to right a wrong

The drafting of a good Bangsamoro Basic Law, Aquino said, would be an opportunity to scrap ineffective measures that the government had tried in the past to solve problems in Mindanao.

Speaking in Filipino, he said:

"This is the truth: Our brothers in the Bangsamoro are not asking for much. What they desire is a decent and peaceful way of life, like any other Filipino. We should also admit that we've neglected each other. But there's nothing written in our religion and our laws that says we have to perpetuate the mistakes of the past. So here we are now. We are being given an opportunity to correct what's wrong. Will we turn our backs on it?"

Suggesting that other Filipinos stand up for the rights of Muslims, he recalled the words of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a German pastor who was executed during World War II for his resistance to the Nazis:

"First they came for the communists, but I was not a communist so I did not speak out. Then they came for the socialists and the trade-unionists, but I was neither so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Jews, but I was not a Jew, so I did not speak out. And when they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me."

"It's true," Aquino said. "If you allow the rights of others to be trampled upon, aren't you also allowing this cycle to repeat itself, and someday you might become its victim?"

Mindanao Peace Monument

It has a big white dove perched on a globe spreading its wings – called the Mindanao Peace Monument – as the people’s way of expressing their quest for a lasting peace in the region, that is by the advocacy group Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) led by South Korea peace activist Man Hee Lee of HWPL.

The unveiling of the monument was one of the highlights during Monday’s Peace Summit.

Religious leader Man Hee Lee’s group has been one with the Mindanao Bishops-Ulama Conference, in his group’s attempt to help various religious groups come to an understanding as far as peace is concerned.

Peace maker Man Hee Lee, in his speech, stressed that 80 percent of armed conflicts around the world is rooted on religious differences.

“If we all believe in one God, then religion is not the problem,” he stressed during a translated speech at the peace summit.

Peace advocate Man He Lee said the efforts and stand of Maguindanao province and its people calling for peace and supporting the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) are a way forward into achieving the dream of every peace-loving individual.

During the event, Maguindanao province and Lee’s group agreed to celebrate every 24th of January as international day of peace or HWPL day where they signed a peace covenant.

Before the monument unveiling, participants first had a peace march from the Buluan Gym going to the Rajah Buayan Peace Center. Also participating were children and the security sectors waving flaglets and placards containing peace messages.

Among those present at the peace summit and delivered their messages of support were Sheik Khalifa Nando of the Shariah Supreme Court of the MILF Central Committee, Bishop Antonio Ledesma of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro, and retired Marine commanding general Benjamin Dolorfino, who was dubbed as “peace warrior” because of his distinct approach at dealing with the Mindanao insurgency.

The three highlighted the aspiration of the Moro people to achieve peace in Mindanao, and expressed their belief that the BBL will play a crucial role in attaining peace and stability in the island.

Sixteen-year-old Narimbai Utto, who represented the youth sector, expressed that she could not bear watching young boys forced to stop going to school to work as “padyak” drivers or to work in the farms to help their families make both ends meet.

Utto was the class valedictorian of Tukanalipao National High School, in the same village where the Mamasapano encounter took place last January. Sixty-four people died during the clash, including 44 from the police’s Special Action Force, 17 from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, and three civilians.

Utto said the war has made them even poorer because displacements continue to hamper their livelihoods and worsened their living conditions.

She appealed for the passage of the BBL and to stop the war, and instead address the welfare and education of Mindanao’s youth.

Dr. Alicia Manandog, of the Sultan Kudarat State University, in her speech representing the women sector, pushed for equality among tribes and religions, and not to treat women as second class citizens should the BBL be enacted into law.

Maguindanao Governor Esmael Mangudadatu, who is vocal in his campaign for the BBL, has appealed to all sectors to work together to achieve peace and give no chance for violence to happen again.

The governor recalled that during his youth, while helping her mother earn extra income with their ice candy store, armed men affiliated with rebel groups would come with pistols tucked in their waists.

“I don’t want the children anymore to grow in the culture of violence,” he said.

said that since the BBL is being supported by majority stakeholders of Mindanao, then the Mindanaons should decide for their own and not be dictated by outsiders.

COTABATO CITY - May 25 has been declared the Heavenly Culture of World Peace Restoring of Light (HWPL) Day in the province of Maguindanao.

The declaration aims for the return of progress through peace in the province, said Maguindanao Governor Esmael Mangudadatu.

The declaration was made during the Peace Summit attended by thousands of people from different sectors.

The Peace Monument, in front of the Rajah Silongan Peace Center that is also serves as  the office of the governor, was also officially opened to the public.

Man Hee Lee, HWPL chairman, and known world peace activist, chairwoman of an international women’s peace group, joined Cagayan De Oro Bishop Antonio Ledesma, and various peace at Moro Islamic Liberation Front officials in the celebration.

Participants also prayed for the passage of the Bangsamoro Basic Law.
