“For the 2nd Annual Commemoration of the WARP Summit, we’ve come together. All family members of peace who have a strong will for peace must gather our hearts and communicate with each other for peace to be settled one day sooner, for it is what all humanity has been longing for. Just as a leader must lead his or her followers, they (family members of peace) are striving at the forefront to make a better world. If we do it, it’s possible. It we don’t do it, it won’t happen” 
1,000 global people from 130 countries around the world participated in the Advocacy Forum for the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War. The participants include former presidents and prime ministers, ministers and high-ranking officials of governments, specialists and leaders from international organizations, civil society, religion, women and media groups. Beginning with an opening speech by Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL, two parts of the forum for 4 hours sought peace building strategies based on "Plan of Action for Advocacy to Intergovernmental Organizations, Governments, and the Public."

The Potentiality of the DPCW 
and the Possibility of its Implementation 

Dr. Kamal Hossain, Senior Advocate of Supreme Court of Bangladesh and member of HWPL International Law Peace Committee, stressed the importance of advocacy of international law for peace through the implementation of the DPCW. "We must make sustainable efforts for global mobilization and to combine the strength of the millions, who yearn for an end to violence and armed conflicts. ... To this end, topics surrounding the development of such legal framework should be discussed by the United Nations (UN) and other international and/or national organizations, in order to raise awareness among the public about the importance of world peace and security, as well as the contents of such a legal framework", he said. 


Ms. Ediola Pashollari, Secretary General of World Assembly of Youth in Albania, said, "This Declaration (the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War) is a powerful and ground-breaking tool to dispose of all means that initiate war and armed conflicts, thus further attaining humanity's fundamental goal and peace." She suggested that the promotion of value of peace and justice must be provided and said, "Another effective strategy is to make a petition that will reach out to the heads of state and make the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) as a legally binding international policy. Finally, to be able to follow up and realise their vision this successfully, they should be a formation of regional representatives that will be building, encouraging and overseeing all stakeholders in order to ensure that the regions are actively involved." 


Ms. Denise Robinson has dedicated her life to women rights, democracy and prohibition of racial discrimination as a minister and member of Parliament of South Africa and Federal Leader Democratic Alliance Women's Network (DAWN), For development of the DPCW(the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War) with the support from the public, she said, 
"In order for the DPCW to be implemented and start bringing the change which it was created for, it is imperative that the public be informed about the contents and goals of this document. This means that those of us who know this declaration now need to create situations like seminars and round table discussions around it. This should be done not forgetting the power of the media, which can carry the message much quicker and wider through radio talk shows on community radio stations, television panel discussions and social network campaigns. All these wonderful modern day tools should be harnessed to raise public awareness and offer education to our people as a first step." 


Mr. Abdessatar Ben Moussa, President of Tunisian League of Human Rights, a representative civil society organization of the National Dialogue Quartetannounced as the laureate of the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize, emphasized the legislation through parliament or congress by saying, "The essential is to submit petitions to parliamentarians to collect petitions because parliaments are the efficient pressure methods concerning governments and Heads of States. Awareness of governments within each State is NGOs’ role. In this regard, we have to work on the acquisition of the Declaration support motion of each parliament. Support motions have considerable effect." 


Chairwoman of the International Women’s Peace Group also appealed to the participants by saying, “War only gives birth to another war, leaving fear and sacrifices to our future generations. We must achieve our purpose, the advocacy for this Declaration, to not repeat the atrocities of war for the next generation. When the public’s awareness of this issue increases, the powerful strength of peace in the world will arise, transcending national interests. All heads of state, justices, and UN representatives must work at the forefront to advocate for the implementation of international law compatible with the DPCW.”

What is the fundamental aspect of religion? It has become one of the most crucial and pressing question to answer of all time. Religion plays a great role in forming one’s thoughts, beliefs, and values through spiritual values it teaches.

Today, religion has failed to resolve or mediate political, economic and ethnic factors leading to conflicts but rather has intensified them into bloodshed wars. United Nations and countries around the world have strongly called to take a strong stand against violent extremism committed in the name of religion.
   
We have come to a point for religion to discuss search for the truth which follows the teachings of the Creator, uphold and promote the true values of religion such as love, respect, harmony and peace. 
At this critical moment, during the 2nd Annual Commemoration of WARP Summit, HWPL and Chairman Lee reaffirmed Alliance of Religions as one of core initiatives to bring peace.
           
At the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Summit in 2014, religious leaders signed the Unity of Religion Agreement and pledged before the Creator and people of all nations to bring all religions into one. 
Afterwards, HWPL WARP Office was established to discuss fundamental aspect of religion and solutions to peace based on inter-religious understandings on a wide variety of topics.

During this year’s Summit, over 200 leaders representing 16 religions gathered to discuss the necessity of seeking trustworthy scripture and reaffirm their solidarity to be active proponents of achieving peace as religious leaders.

During the first part of the conference, participants saw the progress on scripture dialogue through the WARP Office meetings and were reminded of the role that religious leaders play. 

People are urging for harmony among religions and emphasizing the role of the leaders in bringing an end to wars and achieve peace in our generations. Scripture dialogue at HWPL interfaith peace meetings are taking place all around the world to truly bring the alliance of religions.

Chairman Man Hee Lee has suggested the answer to peace which is world alliance of religions.

HWPL has hosted ‘world alliance of religions peace summit’, WARP Peace Summit which 200 thousand of people participated including 2,000 political leaders from 170 counties in order to hand down heritage with no war on 2014 Sep. 16~19.

29 former•incumbent presidents, supreme court justice and political leaders have signed for agreement of proposing legislation on cessation of war world peace international law

12 religious leader from different religion signed for agreement on world alliance of religions.

Approximately, 2,000 leaders from 170 countries signed for agreement which contains supports and collaboration on ‘cessation of war and proposal of international law’ and ‘world alliance of religions’.

A former president of Croatia, Stjepan Mesić who participated in ceremony at that time said that “there were no such an incident like this in history which numerous political and religious leaders have come all together to discuss peace."

People said that “there had been no such ceremony in size and content wise and chairman Man Hee Lee’s answer to peace is very practical and groundbreaking”.

Analyzing reason for conflicts and war throughout the world are caused by religion, in order to achieve world alliance of religion to solve such conflicts, HWPL is the only one private non-profit organization which is working upfront by opening up alliance of religions’ peace office.

HWPL has opened more than 120 alliance of religions’ peace office in 61 countries within a year and there is ongoing discussion on comparison of bibles in various religion.

The media plays a wide range of roles in our lives because it shapes what we see and hear every day. By covering diverse news and issues on what is happening in the world in recent times, the media creates and amplifies the need of a sustainable global peace and security and has the potential to play a significant role in peace-building processes.

 Particularly, the media’s impact upon the policymaking process and promoting peace shapes how to prevent conflict and enlightens world leaders and citizens to act for peace.

 The 2nd Annual Commemoration of September 18th World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Summit is a “must cover” event for international press to provide people with diverse aspects of the Summit and build a foundation for open communication between governments, IGOs, and civil societies on advocating for the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW).(Find more about DPCW, peacelaw.org)

 With the theme of the advocacy of the legislation of peace, WARP Summit 2016 will address strategies and action plans to develop an enforceable law compatible with the DPCW and initiate a global change process aiming to move from conflict to peace.


Journalists and reporters of local and international press will catch the professional, inspiring, and dynamic scenes of the three-day event. On September 17th, marking the start of the Summit, heads of state and representatives of various fields will participate in intensive and interactive sessions and forums simultaneously.

 Global speakers will deliver keynote speeches to encourage alliances, connections and support peace networks among the summit participants and a global community.

The 4th HWPL International Law Peace Committee Meeting will have high-level talks on how the role of government can be addressed to the extent that citizens can be benefitted from the legislation of peace based on the DPCW. It will also draw comprehensive understanding and approaches to the Declaration pertaining to peace movement ? democracy, human rights, education, culture, and religion.

 The International Religious Leaders’ Conference will establish consent on the direction of interfaith peace dialogues based on religious scriptures and discuss the role of religion as bridge-builder of world peace. With the support from religious leaders all around the world HWPL has successfully established 181 offices in 90 countries and is continuously expanding its boundaries.

 Also, there will be a forum for the media and press conference which will devise the conduct of media to effectively transmit the message of peace and legitimacy of law-making with the provision of the blueprint of legislation based on the DPCW.

HWPL is actively working towards the goal of holding the media accountable for accurate reporting standards. This year’s Media Forum will specifically discuss the plan of actions for the press through publicizing various media productions and utilizing resources to strengthen the advocacy movement of the DPCW in their respective countries.

 The gigantic outdoor Peace and Sports Festival held on the second day of the Summit is based on the idea of arts and sports-based approach to peace and transformation of violence. The festival provides a cohesive platform to gather all people yearning for peace through the culture of heaven, transcending nationality, religion, and ideology and building bridges between individuals and communities.

This innovative approach to peace involves visual arts, sporting events, music performance, and card stunt for the positive transformation of international and societal conflict, creating opportunities for building bridges across differences and advancing a world free from conflict.

 By engaging with and stimulating such entertaining tools, the use of arts and sports at the Peace and Sport Festival at the Summit is an integral part of peacebuilding to ignite the flame of peace in the hearts of many.

 The last day of the Summit will summarize the entire events and share practical action plans based on common ground of understanding and practicality of the DPCW. Over 1,000 participants will gather at the same venue to determine their resolution in supporting the DPCW and once again reaffirm their solidarity in bringing forth peace.

 For the cause of leaving peace as a legacy for future generations, HWPL aims to take another great leap forward for peace this year through endorsement of global legislation of peace with cooperation from all sectors of society and alliance of religions through interfaith peace dialogues.

 As active peace advocates, media takes a great part in urging the DPCW by delivering the news of its development process so that everyone can take it for granted and it can be effectively implemented worldwide to greet the new era of peace.

Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL, Chairman Man Hee Lee) is hosting its “2nd Annual Commemoration of September 18th World Alliance of Religions’ Peace Summit” from September 17th through 19th. At the 2nd Annual Commemoration many of the world’s political and religious leaders, as well as women and youth leaders, will gather. 

Approximately 1,000 public figures from 120 countries around the world are expected to take part in this event, including: the former President of Croatia, Ivo Josipović; the Minister of Justice of Sri Lanka, Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe; President of the Spanish Society for International Human Rights Law, Carlos Villan Duran; the Youth Representative of The United Nations Association of New York, Juan Pablo Celis Garcia; along with various ministers, chief justices, high level government officials, and former presidents. During the event, participants will partake in various meetings for the implementation of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW).

The meetings that will be held on the 17th and 19th in Seoul will cover important topics such as the role of the legal system to resolve religious conflicts, and the current role of the International Court of Justice of the United Nations in resolving armed conflicts, and will consist of: Advocacy Forum for the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War, Media Forum for Advocacy of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War, The 4th HWPL International Law Peace Committee Meeting, International Religious Leaders Conference, Conference for the Implementation of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War, 2016 IWPG Network Forum. 

On the 18th, there will be an outdoor event at the Seoul Olympic Stadium. This event will mark its beginning with a parade, bringing in participants from all walks of life around the world. The parade will be followed by a card section performance by 12,000 members of the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG) with a theme of world peace and cessation of war. This performance is expected to deliver the inspiration of peace and harmony that transcends all borders of nation, race, and religion. 

Through the 2014 WARP Summit, HWPL signed on the Agreement to Propose the Enactment of International Law for the Cessation of Wars and World Peace. In September of 2015, HWPL launched the HWPL International Law Peace Committee, which consists of international law scholars, professors, and chief justices. In March of 2016, HWPL proclaimed the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War, along with international law experts from various countries. 

Following the Declaration, the “Legislate Peace” Campaign (a global advocacy movement aimed at establishing international law consistent with the DPCW) has been conducted worldwide. Since its beginning in March, 535,493 people from 167 different countries have signed their support for the DPCW.

South Africa hosts Religious Dialogue amidst Terrorist Attack Warning

Port Elizabeth, South Africa – To go against the terrorist attacks happening globally during the month of Ramadan, a group of religious leaders gathered at the Church of the Latter Day Saints for a peace dialogue.

On June 9th, 2016 Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) hosted the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Office event with the purpose to bring harmony and seek common ground among all religions, through understanding creed of each religion.

The movement began as a continuation of the Alliance of Religions agreement signed at the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Summit on September 2014 in South Korea.

After returning to their home countries, over 700 religious leaders from across the globe who participated in the Summit have been actively carrying out the promise they made at the Summit by voluntarily establishing and hosting the WARP Office event in their communities with HWPL regional branches.

For the community in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, the topic for the month was “Does your scripture record the work God has done on the Earth?” Speakers included kessavan Padayachy (Hindu representative), Nicky van Lavieren (Hare Krishna), Sinethemba Neku (Mormon), Placide Ebongue (Baha’i faith).

Q. How is your experience at the WARP Office thus far?

“I am always amazed when each of the religious leaders gives their talks on how similar the different religions are. I really enjoy it and today was exceptionally good. I believe that the word of God is love and peace, so if we study the scriptures of one another so if we study the scriptures of one another and find love and peace in each other’s scripture, then we would be making a very big contribution to world peace.”-Kessavan Padayachy (Hindu representative)

Q. What are your views on wars that are caused by religious conflicts?

“If we sit and learn together in scripture we will be able to understand each other and have world peace. A lot of wars start because of religion. Understanding each other as religious leaders is the solution to problem.”-Sinethemba Neku (Mormon representative)

“I think media has conditioned the observer. Religious people are not aggressive. Religion is there to develop your spiritual qualities. People use religions for their own benefit. We need to really see our spiritual call because we are all equal, we are all one.”- Nicky van Lavieren (Hare Krishna representative)

Up to date, HWPL has established 166 WARP Offices in 81 countries.

Since 80% of wars in the world are religiously motivated, it is safe to say that this movement is a practical way of achieving peace.

On March 2016, Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL presented the articles of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War which was created by worldly renowned international law experts who signify that peace is possible yet urgent. (Ref to http://peacelaw.org/)

The Declaration continues to develop as the most widely accepted and cited document to ensure international security and worldwide enjoyment of peace.

Some of the core elements include prohibition of: the threat or use of force; obtaining war potential and freedom of religion.

What exactly is UN DPI?

UN DPI stands for the United Nations Department of Public Information. DPI works closely with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to help the public gain a better understanding the goals of organizations. It also allows organizations to work more closely with the UN on various levels.

How has HWPL become associated with UN DPI?

NGOs seeking association with DPI must meet strict criteria. The organization must support and respect the principles of the Charter of the United Nations. The NGO must also be reputable at the national, regional or international level and operate at a not-for-profit basis with its own information outreach program. Only organizations that have a good track record of past work with UN Agencies can become associated HWPL has met these standards on an international scope and has proven through its participation at numerous conferences at the UN, through organizing the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Summit and various peace workshops, meetings, and activities globally.

HWPL, formed in 2010, is a newly DPI associated NGO that aims to transcend differences in cultures, beliefs and regions to achieve peaceful solutions. 

Based in Korea, their ultimate goal is to end all wars and establish global peace. By implementing the use of volunteer outreaches, youth engagements, integration of women and cultural exchanges they hope to share the message of the Declaration of
Peace. 

Their campaigns, which range from signing petitions to hosting street parades, umbrella the theme of bringing awareness to peace-related issues. One of HWPL’s successes is their Walk for World Peace and Restoration. This event held in Seoul, South Korea, brought together 30,000 youths from 130 countries who envision the same desire for peaceful solutions.

1. To begin the process of establishing a universally applicable system of values focussing on aspects of morality and experience of life that bind us together as a global family.
2. Establish a basic ideological foundation upon which a World Alliance of Religions can be built in order to bring conflicts founded on differing religious ideologies to an end.
3. Draft and publicly make the Declaration of the World Alliance of Religions. 
4. Define the roles of cultural leaders, both secular and religious, in the creation and implementation of a new, heavenly culture.
